The idea for the Alpine Active Retreat was triggered by Federica’s and Lorraine’s love of the mountains, the idea to offer enjoyment of the mountain environment in all its aspects. Mountain areas aren’t only about skiing, they offer a wide variety of summer activities amidst the greenest of meadows under the bluest of skies. Join us for a bicycle tour or a glass of wine while watching the sun set, a hike with polenta lunch or a yoga session immersed in nature in the quiet peaceful setting of our chalet.
Alpine Active Retreat is based in the Chalet Valentin in the pretty resort of Sauze D’Oulx, known as the “Balcony of the Italian Alps”. Sauze D’Oulx, an Italian village situated in the Susa valley at an altitude of 1509 metres, is the ideal escape from the hectic routine of daily life, the place to enjoy an Alpine Active Retreat surrounded by nature. Sauze is a popular tourist destination in all seasons, in winter as a ski resort and in summer for high altitude hiking or cycling and for its stunning natural beauty.
This lively resort offers a wide variety of sporting activities plus entertainments such as aperatifs and dining at altitude. It is within easy reach of important points of interest such as the splendid city of Turin, historical first capital of Italy, just an hours drive away; Exilles fort, one of the oldest of the Susa valley; Fenestrelle fort that can be reached by bicycle or e-bike; and lastly but not leastly Briançon, just over the French border, a beautiful medieval town well worth a visit and where you can savour the local speciality “raclette”.
